Everest Strategies is seeking an Accounting Intern who wants hands-on experience working with real businesses, real financial challenges, and modern accounting technology.

Unlike many internships that focus on administrative tasks, this role places you directly in the accounting and financial operations of small and mid-sized businesses. You will work alongside experienced business consultants helping clients organize financial records, improve reporting, analyze performance, and create financial clarity that drives business growth.

This position is ideal for an accounting student or recent graduate who wants practical experience applying accounting principles in a consulting environment.

What You'll Do

As an Accounting Intern, you will assist with accounting projects for a variety of businesses across multiple industries.

Responsibilities include:

Bookkeeping & Accounting Support

  • Review and reconcile financial transactions
  • Assist with account reconciliations and month-end close processes
  • Record journal entries
  • Analyze transactions using T-accounts and accounting fundamentals
  • Verify proper classification of revenues and expenses
  • Assist with accrual and adjusting entries
  • Support inventory accounting and inventory reconciliations
  • Review general ledger activity for accuracy

Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparing:
    • Profit & Loss Statements
    • Balance Sheets
    • Cash Flow Statements
    • Departmental and Class-Based Reporting
  • Help identify accounting errors and inconsistencies
  • Support the development of KPI dashboards and management reports

Technology & Systems

  • Work within accounting and business management systems including:
    • QuickBooks Online
    • QuickBooks Desktop
    • Point of Sale (POS) Systems
    • Payroll Platforms
    • Inventory Management Systems
    • Excel and Reporting Tools
  • Learn how data flows between operational and accounting systems
  • Assist with software implementations and data cleanup projects

Consulting Support

  • Help clients organize financial information
  • Assist in cleaning up accounting records
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting projects
  • Participate in client meetings and internal project discussions
  • Assist consultants with business performance analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Completed Intermediate Accounting I (preferred)
  • Experience with QuickBooks is a plus
  • Experience with Excel or Google Sheets
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
