Editorial and Community Engagement Intern
The Editorial & Community Engagement Intern supports NatureCoaster’s mission as the trusted digital guide to Florida’s Nature Coast by assisting with content production, community event intake, contributor coordination, and regional storytelling. This is a project‑based internship, ideal for students seeking hands‑on experience in digital publishing, tourism communication, and editorial operations.
🌊 Key Responsibilities
- Content Preparation — Format and prepare news and feature stories using NatureCoaster’s Editorial SOP, including H2 placement, category/tag assignment, and FL‑style datelines.
- Community Event Intake — Review, clean, and prepare submitted events using the Community Event Submission workflow.
- Contributor Support — Track submissions, maintain communication, and ensure SOP alignment.
- Digital Publishing — Prepare stories in WordPress, optimize for Discover/Google News, and ensure visual authenticity using approved regional assets.
- Research & Fact‑Checking — Verify local details, locations, and partner information.
- Social Content Support — Draft social posts using NatureCoaster’s standing hashtag set (#discovercrystalriver #flsportscoast #fladventurecoast + NC defaults).
🌱 Skills & Qualifications
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Interest in tourism, conservation, community storytelling, or regional journalism
- Familiarity with WordPress or willingness to learn
- Ability to follow structured editorial SOPs
- Detail‑oriented and organized
- Bonus: photography, Canva, or basic design skills
