Position Objectives:
The Projectionist is responsible for providing an optimal exhibition experience to all JBFC guests through the expert operation of all JBFC projection, audio, and automation equipment in support of the activities of the Film Center and its educational programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains digital, 35 mm, and 16 mm projection and audio equipment.
- Thoroughly inspects all film and digital media as it arrives, and properly and promptly completes corresponding inspection reports.
- Conducts routine and as needed equipment maintenance, as assigned by the Technical Director or Booth Manager.
- Works closely with other projectionists and staff to ensure professional presentation and quality work environment.
- Collaborates with the Technical Director or Booth Manager to implement and maintain systems for organized workflow, optimizing productivity and efficiency, and extends this cooperative understanding to fellow projectionists.
- Collaborates with the Technical Director or Booth Manager to plan and to implement new booth procedures and policies to improve and maintain high standards for presentation quality.
- Works closely with the Technical Director and Booth Manager to coordinate and execute all daily operations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attends all mandatory training and workshops, as required and specified by the JBFC.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Director of Theater Operations.
Preferred Experience and Qualities:
- A passion for high-quality film presentation and creating a positive movie going experience for both general screenings and school groups.
- Solid foundation skills in and experience with 35mm film, 16mm film, and DCP digital projection, and various digital media, numerous software packages, data management systems and media equipment.
- The ability to quickly understand and absorb a wide variety of technologies.
- Working knowledge of Macintosh and Windows operating systems and programs.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- The ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in film or work experience equivalent preferred.

Start Date: ASAP
The Projectionist is a flexible full-time position on location at the JBFC Theater.
Hours: Shifts may vary Monday–Sunday, 8:00am-1:00am; evening, weekend, and holiday work is required as duties demand.
Salary Range: $45,000 – $48,000
