About the Internship

This Industrial Engineering Summer Internship offers hands-on experience in developing and improving Standard Work practices within a manufacturing environment. The intern will review, update, and create assembly procedures, cycle times, and process flow charts for selected pump models to support safer, more efficient, and higher-quality operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Maintain a professional and collaborative work environment by communicating effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  2. Follow all safety policies and procedures and help maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
  3. Follow company policies related to confidentiality, compliance, and intellectual property.
  4. Develop Standard Work documentation, including process maps, work instructions, and visual aids.
  5. Conduct time and motion studies to collect cycle-time data, evaluate staffing needs, and support cost analysis for management.
  6. Support process improvement projects and assist with hands-on implementation activities, which may include setting up racking, conveyors, and work cells.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
  • Analytical and solutions-oriented, with an interest in process improvement, manufacturing, and product development.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to take initiative while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and adapting to new tools and processes.
  • Hands-on mindset with exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement concepts preferred.

 

Working Conditions 

This role works in a combination of office, manufacturing, warehouse, and outdoor settings. The environment is generally clean, well lit, and temperature controlled indoors. The intern will have access to standard office equipment and may occasionally participate in physical setup or improvement activities on the production floor. Some schedule flexibility may be required based on project needs.

 

Physical Requirements 

  1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  2. Ability to stand, sit, bend, and move for extended periods as needed.
  3. Ability to safely climb and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
