Adjunct Instructor- Part Time (Civil Technology)

The Department of Civil Technology at SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a talented and experienced Part Time Adjunct Instructor to join our team! We're looking for a highly qualified individual to teach and mentor students entering the Civil Technician career path. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Civil  Technology, with expertise in areas of Surveying, Construction Management and Material Testing. 

As an Adjunct Instructor, you'll be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses and contributing to the department's outreach activities. We want to hear from you if you're passionate about sharing your knowledge and expertise with the next generation of engineers!

These positions are filled on an as-needed basis and are on-going recruitment efforts.  Applicants are contacted/hired for assignments based on College needs.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering/Technology, or a related field, as well as a Master's degree in a related field, are required. Registration as a Professional Engineer or Licensed Land Surveyor may be accepted in lieu of a Master's degree. 
  • The successful candidate will have a strong background in surveying, AutoCAD3D Civil, and REVIT.
  • Applicants should be comfortable in the learner-centered classroom and have a strong commitment to the community college mission.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Preferred Experience:

  • Teaching core curriculum for Civil Technology such as Statics, Strength of Materials, Construction Management, Material Testing with lab components, but not limited to these courses.
  • Teaching entry level courses civil technology or civil engineering courses.
  • Working knowledge of the latest technology such as Drones, GPS systems and incorporating them into the classroom.

Additional Information:

* Adjunct teaching professional employees will be paid $1,305.35 per lecture hour per semester or $1,142.06 per laboratory hour per semester. Course compensation is for all services related to the course assignment, including preparation time, final exam, availability to meet with students if they request at a mutually agreeable time, attendance at one department meeting per semester if required by the chairperson, and all necessary and required reports of student attendance, grades, etc.
