Job Summary
Golden Eagle Charter School is seeking a High School English Teacher to serve students in our Yreka program for the 2026–2027school year. The teacher will provide classroom instruction for high school students in very small classes. In addition to teaching courses, the teacher will work individually with students to monitor progress, support learning goals, and help ensure each student stays on track academically. The position also includes managing a small caseload of independent study students, providing guidance and academic support. Golden Eagle Charter School operates under a flex-based learning model, combining teacher-led instruction with personalized learning. Teachers build strong relationships with students and families while providing individualized support that helps students grow academically and personally. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive, collaborative environment where teachers can focus on student learning and meaningful connections with students.
Position Summary
The Educational Facilitator/Class Teacher (EF) plays a central role in supporting student learning at Golden Eagle Charter School. The EF works collaboratively with students and parents/guardians to develop and oversee each student’s flex-based learning plan, including educational goals, curriculum selections, instructional modalities, and regular progress meetings.
The EF works in partnership with students and their parents/guardians to support student engagement, monitor progress, and ensure each student’s learning plan reflects the student’s goals, needs, and interests.
The EF monitors student progress using a variety of assessments and instructional strategies to ensure students are making meaningful progress toward mastery of California State Standards. The EF serves as the primary teacher of record and educational point of contact for assigned students and families and coordinates instructional supports, coursework, and learning opportunities in partnership with families and school staff.
The EF works collaboratively with Program Managers and other school staff to support student success, address concerns related to student engagement or progress, and ensure effective implementation of the school’s instructional program.
Golden Eagle Charter School operates under a flex-based learning model, which may include independent study, teacher-led courses offered in person or online, dual enrollment and early college opportunities, career pathway programs, and other flexible instructional approaches designed to meet the needs of individual students.
Core Responsibilities
● Develop and oversee each assigned student’s flex-based learning plan and serve as the primary teacher responsible for monitoring overall academic progress.
● Facilitate the student’s educational pathway by helping select curriculum, instructional modalities (in-person, home-based, or online), and learning opportunities aligned with California State Standards.
● Assign, monitor, and assess student work to evaluate progress toward academic goals and standards.
● Meet regularly with students and parents/guardians to review progress, provide guidance, and collaboratively adjust learning plans as needed.
● Monitor student engagement and academic progress, and collaborate with the Program Manager when concerns arise, including participation in Meetings of Concern or other student support processes when appropriate.
● Maintain regular communication and collaborative working relationships with students and their parents/guardians to support engagement and ensure successful implementation of the student’s flex-based learning plan.
● Support students in academic planning and goal setting aligned with their flex-based learning plan and postsecondary aspirations.
● Provide guidance to students and families regarding graduation requirements, course options, and postsecondary opportunities including college and career pathways.
● Support students in accessing GECS learning opportunities including teacher-led courses, workshops, tutoring, enrichment activities, dual enrollment, and other instructional supports.
● Collaborate with Program Managers, teachers, specialists, and support staff to coordinate services and supports for students.
Student Support & Compliance
● Implement IEP and 504 accommodations as required.
● Communicate accommodations and modifications to teachers of courses in which the student is enrolled.
● Participate in IEP and Section 504 meetings when appropriate and collaborate with special education staff to support implementation of student accommodations and services.
● Maintain accurate student records, attendance documentation, and required reporting in accordance with school policies and state requirements.
● Maintain the independent study written agreement for assigned students and ensure compliance with applicable state requirements.
● Ensure student work samples, attendance records, and learning documentation meet independent study compliance requirements.
● Review and evaluate student work to determine academic engagement and document attendance in accordance with independent study requirements.
Instructional Duties (When Assigned)
Some Educational Facilitators may also be assigned to provide teacher-led instruction as part of the GECS instructional program.
When assigned instructional responsibilities, the EF/Class Teacher will:
● Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction.
● Assess student learning and maintain gradebooks or required instructional records.
● Implement required accommodations and supports for students.
● Maintain a safe and organized classroom or instructional environment.
Collaboration & School Participation
● Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, and school functions.
● Participate in school activities and events including field trips, workshops, and community events.
● Maintain regular communication with students, families, and staff.
● Contribute positively to the GECS school culture and professional learning community.

Valid California Teaching Credential. Multiple Subject or Single Subject (independent study allows for any single subject or a multiple subject credential). English Learner Authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, CTEL, or equivalent).
TB and fingerprint clearance as required by law.
Ability to travel between school sites or community locations as needed to fulfill job responsibilities. Reliable transportation required.
