Upper Lake Union High School District Job Description Teacher Basic Function: Under the general supervision of the Superintendent/Principal, provides each student with the content of the subject area at a level sufficient to be responsive to the needs of the individual student. Representative Duties and Responsibilities: • Plan a program of studies, including homework designed to meet the individual needs, interest and abilities of the students. • Guide the learning process using clear objectives while achieving curriculum goals. Objectives, units and projects will be consistent with the curriculum goals communicated to students. • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. • Assist administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom. • Develop rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom. • Attend staff meetings and serve on school and district committees. • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the designated times. • Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to the identified needs of the student. • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media in response to the needs of students. • Implement through instruction and action the District’s philosophy of education. • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulations. • Accept a share of the responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned. • Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others. • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of assigned students. • Maintain professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work. Qualifications : • Possess a valid California Public School Single Subject credential or eligibility for. • CLAD, BCLAD or equivalent English Learner authorization. • NCLB compliance. Work Year/Hours : 182 days per year (183 for new teachers), 7.5 hours per day. Salary : Appropriate placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule. Board Approval Date: July 30, 2013
