Senior Structural Engineer
Purpose:
Works in an internal team to support the design of projects of moderate and large size. Is acquiring general knowledge of related disciplines for collaboration with peers in architectural, MEP, and construction organizations. Responsible for efficiency of self.
Technical Responsibilities:
Prepares calculations for steel and concrete systems and assists in producing construction documents. Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures and criteria for basic design problems. Familiar with codes, design software, and drafting software. Reviews most shop drawings for conformance with construction documents.
Managerial Responsibilities:
Takes direction from supervisors and communicates about work load and expected completion of multi-stage tasks. Directs CADD and Revit Operators in the production of Construction Documents. Educates engineers in tasks when appropriate.
Communication Skills:
Communicates directly with external peers by phone, email, and sometimes in the field pertaining to specific issues. Participates in external meetings. Answers RFI. Assists superiors in writing memos and letters.
Qualifications:
3-5 Year Experience
Basic Steel Member and Connection Design
Basic Reinforced Concrete Member Design
Foundation Member Design
BS in Civil or Architectural Engineering Required
MS in Structural Engineering Preferred
Equivalent Federal General Schedule: GS-9 or GS-11
