Position Summary 

The Programs for Learning Academic and Community English offers innovative language learning and cultural programs designed for local and international groups. These customized programs  provide high-quality, non-credit language courses and special cultural activities near the beautiful Rocky Mountains, designed to meet the goals of program participants.

Essential Job Duties  

Under the supervision of the Special Programs Manager, Special Programs Staff will support the coordination and implementation of short-term programs by: 

Assisting with the coordination and implementation of group activities: airport pickup and drop-off, walking the group to and from on campus locations, accompanying the group on field trips, cultural trips, and shopping trips; setting up, attending, and taking down events 

Assisting with practical and cultural orientation to the U.S., Colorado, Fort Collins, and CSU, including the use of RamCards/RamCash, Canvas, NetID, and WiFi 

Engaging with the students during events: providing language practice, inclusion, and guidance 

Providing support for participants related to cultural adjustment, language practice, and general wellbeing   

Assisting program coordinator with administrative duties/errands as needed 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

Willingness to be outgoing and actively engage with students, faculty, and staff 

Awareness and acceptance of personal and cultural differences in people and ability to relate well with people of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds 

Passion for CSU international community and a willingness to foster community engagement 

Familiarity with CSU resources, code of conduct, and locations, as well as Fort Collins resources/ and locations 

Detail-oriented with good written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills.  

Punctual 

Available to work nights and weekends, including staying in on-campus housing with the program participants 

Requires US work authorization 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

Ability to drive 7- and 12 – passenger vans in Fort Collins, Denver, and in the mountains (strongly preferred)

International experience  

Intercultural communication experience and/or intercultural training 

Ability to speak languages other than English
