Museum Theatre Troupe Intern

POSITION SUMMARY:

Museum Theatre Troupe Intern will be a part of the implementation of all theatrical experiences at the Museum, including but not limited to mainstage shows, camp shows, camp lessons, character appearances, dance parties and story times, as well as engaging visitors and maintaining exhibit floor upkeep. 

 

The intern will learn about many aspects of theatre making and performance and be able to select areas of specific interest to focus on including but not limited to; acting, stage management, board operation, lighting design, set design, projection design, costume design, sound design, directing and script writing.

 

KEY DATES: 

All Museum Theatre Troupe Interns must be available on the following dates and times for orientation and rehearsal:

 

Wednesday June 17th 11:00am-2:00pm

Thursday June 18th 11:00am-2:00pm

Wednesday June 24th 11:00am-2:00pm

Thursday June 25th 11:00am-2:00pm

 

All Museum Theatre Troupe Interns must then be available a minimum of two days a week 11:00am-5:00pm for at least 6 weeks. Schedules will be arranged with each intern before the commencement of rehearsals. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience or interest in working in theatre 
  • Experience working with children
  • Flexible, patient, and good rapport with the public
  • Team player
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Responsible, dependable

 

OTHER DETAILS:

  • This is an unpaid position. Miami Children’s Museum can offer service hours, community volunteer hours, course credit if applicable to your school and letters of recommendation.
  • Minimum of 16 hours per week
