Project Manager – Capital Equipment

Position Summary

• Lead execution of complex, engineered-to-order capital equipment systems from contract release through commissioning
• Act as the technical and commercial integrator between customers, engineering, manufacturing, 3rd party equipment manufacturers and field service
• Drive delivery of high-performance stamping press systems with strict adherence to technical specifications, timelines, and contractual requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full lifecycle of highly customized press systems, including mechanical, electrical, and controls integration
• Lead cross-functional execution across engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls/automation), supply chain, and production
• Develop and maintain detailed, logic-driven project schedules tied to engineering release, procurement, fabrication, and assembly milestones
• Translate customer specifications into actionable project execution plans, ensuring alignment with internal design and manufacturing capabilities
• Drive technical issue resolution, including design changes and system integration challenges
• Proactively identify risks across engineering, manufacturing, and installation phases; implement mitigation strategies
• Oversee FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), and system commissioning activities
• Serve as the primary technical interface with customers, leading design reviews, progress reviews, and installation planning sessions
• Manage project scope, contract changes, and cost impacts related to engineering modifications or customer-driven changes
• Track and drive closure of technical action items, non-conformances, and field issues
• Ensure complete and accurate technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, test reports, and final turnover packages

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• Strong understanding of industrial systems, including mechanical assemblies, automation, and controls integration
• Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system specifications
• Experience managing complex build-to-order manufacturing environments
• Advanced project planning skills, including dependency-based scheduling and critical path management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability in technically complex environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge engineering and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with stamping presses, automation systems, or heavy industrial equipment
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems, servo systems, and industrial automation architectures
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and engineering release processes

Work Environment & Travel

• Highly collaborative, engineering-focused environment with direct exposure to product design and manufacturing execution
• Regular travel to customer facilities for system installation, commissioning, and technical reviews
