Early Education Pathway (1296)

WORK YEAR: Part time: .25714 FTE – Tuesday and Thursdays, up to 9 hours per week, including 1 staff meeting per month on Wednesday/11 months
START DATE: August 1, 2026
SALARY: Salary Schedule 04, Range $46.42 - $59.28 per hour. This position is exempt from overtime. Annual stipend pay: Master’s $1,200 or Doctorate $2,000 (Prorated upon hire)
Placement on salary schedule is dependent upon how many years of full-time certificated experience you have, as well as your level of education above and beyond your Bachelor’s Degree.
BENEFITS: This position is not eligible for employer paid health benefits. Sick leave accrued. This position qualifies for CalSTRS retirement.
AREA OF Career Technical Education (CTE)
ASSIGNMENT: Chico, CA

DEFINITION:
Provides instruction in the Career Technical Education (CTE) area as determined by course assignment. Instruction includes classroom and industry related safety practices and procedures, career awareness, classroom instruction and development, placement and monitoring of the community classroom methodology. Coordinates efforts with Butte County CTE/Regional Occupational Program (ROP) administration and participating partner institutions/agencies to provide appropriate student oversight and organization of all career technical educational requirements.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: [May include, but is not limited to the following]
- Provide classroom instruction aligned with Butte County CTE/ROP programs
- Assist in the planning and upgrading of curricular materials
- Assist students in related on-the-job training and placement
- Develop and maintain an Advisory Committee
- Participate in student, course, instructional, and program evaluation
- Manage the program budget, community classroom site development, student scheduling, supervision, business/industry agreements and related documentation
- Participate in education and industry professional development training activities
- Use multiple assessments to identify, monitor, assess and evaluate academic and career technical skills achievement of students
- Maintain student records as required by the program
- Support Butte County CTE/ROP administrators with equipment maintenance, replacement, updates and acquisitional needs
- Participate in program recruitment activities
- Understand and support student accommodations as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- The California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards, California Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), as appropriate
- Researched based instructional strategies within Butte County CTE/ROP programs
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with students, Butte County CTE/ROP staff and administrators, institutional/agency personnel and community partners
- Supervise student activities
- Plan, organize and implement the “community classroom” component of the course for those students who qualify
- Emphasize (1) College and Career Readiness skills, (2) Industry based practices, and (3) Safe work procedures at all times
- Implement researched based instructional strategies within Butte County CTE/ROP programs
Education and Experience:
- A valid and unexpired California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential in the industry sector of the teaching assignment. A Single Subject Teaching Credential in either Agriculture, Business, Home Economics, or Industrial & Technology Education may be acceptable for a teaching assignment in the corresponding industry sector in lieu of a Designated Subjects Career Technical Education teaching credential
OR
- Ability to qualify for a Designated Subjects Career Technical Education teaching credential by meeting the following requirements (more details can be found here Commission Leaflet CL-888):
- Verification of high school graduation or the equivalent
- Written verification of a minimum of three years of work experience directly related to the course assignment.
- At least one year of the required work experience must be within the last five years, or two years within the last ten years, immediately preceding the issuance of the preliminary credential. 1000 clock hours shall be the minimum required for each year of work experience. Part-time work experience may be cumulated to equate to the required 1000 clock hours of work experience.
- Completion of forty-eight (48) semester units of postsecondary vocational training related to the industry sector(s) named on the credential may be substituted for a maximum of two of the three years of required work experience. The course work must be verified by official transcript and may be made on a pro rata basis up to the two-year maximum.
- Additionally, one of the following may be used as one year of work experience toward meeting the three years of required experience:
- Possession of an advanced industry certificate related to the industry sector to be named on the preliminary credential, as determined by a Commission-approved CTE program sponsor.
- One year of full-time general education teaching experience providing instructional services in preschool or grades K-12 earned in a public or private school of equivalent status.
An individual must have at least one year of actual work experience to qualify for the three-year preliminary credential.
OTHER:
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License and automobile liability insurance
