Sales Intern – Government Sales / DIBBS Support

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sales Intern to support the Government Sales Group with DLA DIBBS bidding, quote research, vendor communication, data entry, and sales operations. This role is ideal for someone interested in sales, government contracting, procurement, supply chain, or business development.

The intern will work closely with the GSG DLA DIBBS team to identify bid opportunities, obtain vendor and manufacturer quotes, prepare bid-related documentation, enter opportunities into NetSuite, and assist with pre-award and post-award support. This internship provides hands-on exposure to federal procurement, defense supply chain operations, sales support, compliance requirements, and the government contracting lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Market Research Support

  • Review current DIBBS opportunities provided by GSG team members. 
  • Assist in identifying solicitations, RFQs, and bid opportunities that align with company capabilities. 
  • Contact approved vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to obtain pricing, availability, lead times, and quote estimates. 

Bid Preparation & Documentation

  • Support the preparation and organization of bid-related documentation. 
  • Maintain records of quotes, bids, supplier responses, and supporting documents. 
  • Help track open solicitations, submitted bids, and bid status updates. 

Expediting & Order Follow-Up

  • Contact vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers to confirm production and shipping status of open purchase orders. 
  • Track expected ship dates and communicate schedule changes to the appropriate GSG team members. 
  • Help ensure open orders remain on schedule and issues are escalated when needed. 

Administrative & Learning Functions

  • Participate in team meetings and strategy sessions.
  • Assist with documentation, filing, and other clerical duties related to sales.
  • Learn and apply federal contracting terminology, acronyms, and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Supply Chain, Marketing, Government, Political Science, Operations, or a related field. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Comfortable contacting vendors and suppliers by email and phone. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and follow-ups. 
  • Interest in government contracting, procurement, sales operations, or supply chain.  

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with DIBBS, SAM.gov, DLA, DCMA, or government procurement platforms. 
  • Experience with NetSuite, ERP systems, CRM systems, or similar business software. 
  • Prior experience with research, spreadsheets, reporting, or administrative support. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and supporting time-sensitive bid or sales opportunities.
