R2026105005 Ram Welcome Event Assistant (Open)

rientation & Transition Programs creates dynamic, student-centered experiences to inspire purposeful transitions.  

 

The Ram Welcome Event Assistant (RWEA) is a member of the Orientation and Transition Programs staff and, as such, is a part of the staff of the Division of Enrollment and Access. This position reports directly to the Coordinator of Transition Programs (First-Year). This position indirectly reports to the Assistant Director of Transition Programs for Ram Welcome commitments.   

 

This is an in-person position that will begin on August 14th, 2026.  

 

Minimum Qualifications  

Must be a full-time, undergraduate student who will graduate in December 2026 or later.   

Must be a CSU student in good academic AND disciplinary standing.   

Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at time of application (first semester students must have a predicted 2.0 GPA and a 2.0 high school GPA). Note: Employment offers are contingent upon meeting the GPA requirement  

Because we value student academic success, applicants with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.5, if hired, will be required to complete an academic success and improvement plan with supervisor in order to be eligible to serve in position.  

If selected, Ram Welcome Event Assistants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 throughout the entire term of employment.   

Grades will be checked after the Spring Semester and must meet a 2.0 to continue in the position  

Must demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic.   

Must have desire and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.   

Must demonstrate proven positive decision-making skills both personally and professionally.  

Must be able to maintain energy levels, enthusiasm, and stamina when working long hours.   

Must be committed to develop and take leadership, communication, and customer experience skills to a new level.   

Must be willing to learn and grow through the position.   

Must be available for all time commitments including all training times (see page 2).    

Must be available for entire Ram Welcome Program (Mandatory Training on Friday, August 14th) and be available to work shifts Monday, August 17th - Saturday, August 22nd).

Students who are employed by a Cultural Resource Center (CRC), Campus Recreation (CSU Rec Center), or serving as active members/elected officials in ASCSU for the 2026-2027 academic year ARE eligible to apply but must contact their respective supervisor and Orientation & Transition Programs in order to discuss potential conflicts.

RESPONSIBILITIES   

The Ram Welcome Event Assistant will have various responsibilities, including working positively with other members of the Orientation and Transition Programs team, campus representatives, students, and family members/guests. The Ram Welcome Event Assistant works behind the scenes of the Ram Welcome program, primarily collaborating with event logistics support.   

 

Specific responsibilities include:   

Provide substantial on-site support to Orientation and Transition Programs and the various Ram Welcome Event Coordinators with event production and general assistance for events; including (but not limited to): delivery of materials, assembly of materials, set-up, tear down, waste management and preparation for the Ram Welcome Carnival, Ramapalooza, Convocation, WeRide, Parent & Family Welcome programming, Transfer/Adult/Student Veteran programming, and more.  

Support the Orientation and Transition Programs Office Assistants by assisting with various administrative duties as needed related to preparation for the Ram Welcome program.  

Attend and fully participate in Ram Welcome Event Assistant Training on Friday, August 14, 2026.  

Be knowledgeable regarding ALL Ram Welcome programs and events as well as details for ensuring events occur successfully.  

Create an excellent customer experience for new students, parents, family members, and guests.  

Develop and demonstrate team leadership, responsibility, and effective communication skills. 

Perform other duties as assigned.

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT  

The official period of employment will be from August 14th, 2026, to August 22nd, 2026.  

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT  

Ram Welcome Event Assistants must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average to apply and must maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average during affiliation with Orientation and Transition Programs. Ram Welcome Event Assistants with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.5, if hired, will be required to complete an academic success and improvement plan with supervisor in order to be eligible to serve in this position. 

 

In addition, Ram Welcome Event Assistants are expected to act as a public relations and information person on behalf of Colorado State University, exhibit behavior appropriate to University and civil regulations, demonstrate exceptional customer service skills at all times, and fully participate in all training activities, and provide feedback to Coordinator of Transition Programs (First-Year) on Ram Welcome program issues. All Ram Welcome Event Assistants are required to abide by all expectations outlined in the Orientation and Transition Programs Expectations throughout their entire term of employmentFailure to comply with any of the above expectations can result in termination. 

 

Colorado State University conducts background checks on all final candidates. 

  

REMUNERATION 

Compensation during the time of employment consists of an hourly wage as scheduled by the official student wage scale of the University with a starting base no lower than $16.16 per hour for new, first-time RWEAs and $16.66 per hour for returning RWEAs working Ram Welcome.
