Facility Attendant - Part Time
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Activity Center Manager, or their delegate, re-set furnishings and equipment, and clean-up after a wide variety of events at the Activity Center.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Arrange set-up of chairs, tables, skiting, tablecloths, and equipment for events/programs: dismantling or re-arrange rooms for upcoming events; and properly store equipment and furnishings afterwards.
•Clean facility after events/programs. Clean-up includes sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors; collecting and disposing trash; cleaning kitchen and kitchen appliances, washing and putting away dishes and kitchen equipment, and ensuring rest-rooms stocked, free of debris and presentable.
•Check and inspect areas for hazards and spills; take necessary steps to remedy situations that could present danger; utilize precautions to prevent accidents.
•May serve unpackaged food, work with food and food equipment, good utensils, or be in contact with food contact surfaces.
•Operate sound and lighting systems at the Activity Center and at other locations for other City events as needed. Assist Parks and Recreation with special events.
•Perform maintenance and minor repairs on building, furnishing and equipment as required.
•May be required to drive a City vehicle to purchase needed supplies or provide assistance at City events.
•Assist with preparation of sets and props.
•Accomplish every task in strict adherence to all safety and health standards. Report any injuries to the Activity Center Manager, or designee, or to Human Resources.
•Conveys a positive, professional image by action, communication and appearance.
•Exhibits regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
•Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•18 years of age and a
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
•One year (1) experience in the maintenance of facilities similar to that of the Activity Center is preferred.
•Experience in event set-up/breakdown preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
•Proof of citizenship and/or eligibility to legally work in the United States.
•Maintain valid Texas Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record, as defined by City policy.
•Food Handlers Certificate preferred.
•Current CPR/AED certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Sufficient experience/training to perform job functions independently and without direct supervision.
•Basic knowledge of building maintenance duties, including use of janitorial machines and equipment preferred.
•Either possess knowledge of safety standards applicable to described job functions or be able to be trained to a complete understanding of such safety standards.
•Operation of sound and lighting systems preferred.
•Provide excellent public service and community relations; be outgoing and enthusiastic in promoting Activity Center programs and safety.
•Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of management, members, vendors, other employees and the general public.
•Accurately follow verbal and written instructions and diagrams on specific layouts and times for set-ups and take-downs of events.
•Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and with the general public in the English language. Read and understand, in the English language, and written job instructions and plans.
•Meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks under pressure. Manage several projects at one time.
•Exhibit good judgement to work safely and use equipment properly.
WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Duties are mainly in an indoor setting, but may also be outdoors during special events.
•Frequent exposure to cleaning agents, materials and equipment.
•Exposure to kitchen appliances, equipment, cutlery and slippery surfaces.
•Exposed to extreme temperature swings, mechanical or chemical hazards, dust, and insects.
•Flexible work hours, including weekends, holiday and after-hours work.
•Must possess the ability to inspect remote sites which may require climbing and traversing rough terrain in all weather conditions.
•Requires kneeling, reaching, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling and constant walking.
•May carry, hold, lift, and push up to 50 pounds of weight and pull, push, or drag up to 75 pounds of equipment.
•May require exposure to human body fluids.
•May require strenuous labor for extended periods of time.
•A portion of work may take place in an outdoor setting in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings and inclement weather. Subject to sunburn, and other sun exposure reactions.
•May be exposed to stinging or biting insects, poisonous plants, snakes and other wildlife.
•May encounter some stressful situations.
•Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
•Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: hearing, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
