Food Service Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Food Service Manager is under the supervision of the Director and is responsible for the operation of the food service program.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- To prepare, cook, and bake food for meals.
- To plan complete menus.
- To order all food, kitchen supplies, and equipment.
- To train new kitchen staff employees.
- To supervise kitchen staff.
- To maintain all records of the food service program.
- To maintain an inventory of equipment and stock.
- To plan the disposition of government commodities.
- Familiar with the operation of all kitchen equipment.
- Practice acceptable sanitation and safety rules and regulations.
- To keep all student, parent, and staff information confidential.
- To have a positive attitude in working with students, parents, the staff, and community members.
OTHER SKILLS:
To perform other duties as requested by the appropriate supervisor.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a food service manager.
- Food handler's permit or completion of the State Department of Education School Food Service statewide training program or equivalent required.
- Must have food purchasing experience and/or knowledge.
- Good oral and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and organizational ability as well as the ability to work in demanding environments.
- Must have leadership ability and can demonstrate proven experience.
- Familiar with the operation of all kitchen equipment.
- Practice acceptable sanitation and safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
- Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.
- Working knowledge of computer keyboarding skills preferred.
