FOOD SERVICE MANAGER

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:  The Food Service Manager is under the supervision of the Director and is responsible for the operation of the food service program.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

1. To prepare, cook, and bake food for meals.
2. To plan complete menus.
3. To order all food, kitchen supplies, and equipment.
4. To train new kitchen staff employees.
5. To supervise kitchen staff.
6. To maintain all records of the food service program.
7. To maintain an inventory of equipment and stock.
8. To plan the disposition of government commodities.
9. Familiar with the operation of all kitchen equipment.
10. Practice acceptable sanitation and safety rules and regulations.
11. To keep all student, parent, and staff information confidential.
12. To have a positive attitude in working with students, parents, the staff, and community members.

OTHER SKILLS:

To perform other duties as requested by the appropriate supervisor.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalency.
2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a food service manager.
3. Food handler's permit or completion of the State Department of Education School Food Service statewide training program or equivalent required.
4. Must have food purchasing experience and/or knowledge.
5. Good oral and written communication skills required.
6. Demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and organizational ability as well as the ability to work in demanding environments.
7. Must have leadership ability and can demonstrate proven experience.
8. Familiar with the operation of all kitchen equipment.
9. Practice acceptable sanitation and safety rules and regulations.
10. Ability to work well with others.
11. Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
12. Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.
13. Working knowledge of computer keyboarding skills preferred.
14. All applicants who are conditionally considered for employment will, as a final step in the employment process, be required to submit to a drug screen test.
