About the Academy of Future Leaders Summer Camp:
GWE’s Academy of Future Leaders (AFL) Summer Camp empowers low-to-moderate income students in Mecklenburg County through an immersive experience in:
Financial literacy
Entrepreneurial skills
Emotional intelligence
Career readiness
Our innovative program combines interactive workshops, VR-based simulations, and real-world coaching to help young people turn their passion into purpose and future profit.
We are seeking two enthusiastic and passionate Summer Camp Facilitators to help deliver the AFL curriculum and create a safe, engaging, and inspiring environment for students. Facilitators will lead daily activities, support project-based learning, encourage self-discovery, and foster leadership development among youth.
This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity for education majors, social work majors, youth development professionals, or anyone passionate about empowering the next generation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and facilitate interactive workshops and VR learning activities aligned with AFL curriculum
Support students during entrepreneurial projects and passion-based business planning
Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom culture
Facilitate small group discussions and one-on-one coaching as needed
Manage classroom transitions and support student behavior expectations
Collaborate with the GWE program director and guest speakers to deliver a dynamic learning experience
Serve as a positive mentor and role model for camp participants
Support set-up, clean-up, and daily camp logistics
Attend all staff orientation and training sessions prior to camp start
Qualifications:
Interest in education, youth development, or leadership coaching
Experience working with middle and high school students (preferred but not required)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build rapport with diverse youth populations
Comfortable facilitating interactive activities and discussions
Positive, energetic, and adaptable attitude
Commitment to equity, empowerment, and culturally relevant practices
