Marketing & AI Innovation Intern

(Part-Time Internship | 15-20 Hours per Week)

The Hampton Roads Small Business Development Center seeks a motivated Marketing & AI Innovation Intern to support marketing, stakeholder engagement, and digital communications. The intern will also complete an AI-focused project to improve impact storytelling and strengthen funding and grant opportunities.

 

Position Overview

Title: Marketing & AI Innovation Intern

Commitment: 15-20 hours per week             Compensation: Paid stipend internship
Duration: Minimum one-year commitment preferred
Work Format: Hybrid/Flexible (based on organizational needs)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports marketing, communications, stakeholder engagement, and AI innovation initiatives. 
  • Develop and execute social media content, campaigns, and digital storytelling strategies. 
  • Create content highlighting client success stories, economic impact, workshops, and SBDC outcomes. 
  • Assist with newsletters, email marketing, website content, and stakeholder communications. 
  • Research and test AI tools that improve marketing efficiency and content creation. 
  • Help communicate SBDC impact to funders, legislators, partners, and grant-making organizations. 
  • Complete an AI project focused on improving how the SBDC captures and shares impact stories. 
  • Deliver recommendations, sample workflows, and measurable solutions that strengthen funding, grant, and stakeholder engagement efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates may be pursuing studies in Business, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, or similar 

 

Preferred skills and attributes:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Professionalism and self-leadership 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation 
  • Interest in AI tools and emerging technology applications 
  • Interest in small business development and community impact 
  • Basic graphic design or video editing experience is a plus
