Position Title: Homework Helper / Academic Support Tutor
Reports To: Program Director, Learning Center Manager, or Family
Position Summary
The Homework Helper provides academic support to students by assisting them with daily homework assignments, study skills, organization, and time management. The Homework Helper helps students develop independence, confidence, and effective learning habits while ensuring assignments are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist students with homework across multiple subject areas, including math, reading, writing, science, and social studies.
- Help students understand concepts and directions without completing work for them.
- Support organization of assignments, materials, and deadlines.
- Teach effective study strategies, note-taking skills, and test preparation techniques.
- Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or successes to parents, teachers, or supervisors as appropriate.
- Encourage positive work habits, accountability, and self-advocacy.
- Create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments completed, and progress notes.
- Adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of each student.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree or current college enrollment preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of core academic subjects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a growth-oriented mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting students with executive functioning challenges.
- Familiarity with learning differences and diverse learning styles.
- Ability to work with students across multiple grade levels.
- Proficiency with online learning platforms and educational technology.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and work with students for extended periods.
- Ability to use a computer and educational technology tools.
Schedule
- Part-time, typically afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Flexible scheduling based on student and family needs.

Compensation: Hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
