Data Science Intern
Overview
The Data Science team here at Equal Opportunity Ventures is looking to hire an intern to work on a part-time, immediate basis for the Summer. You'll collaborate closely with members of the Data Science team to help craft and execute on our data strategies. You'll learn how we collect and clean data from diverse sources, how to apply advanced statistical techniques to derive actionable insights for our clients, and assist in creating the machine learning models that power our platform. You'll also be exposed to process automation and learn how to effectively communicate statistical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Directly support Senior Data Scientists in defining data strategies for EOV
- Collect and clean data from various entities.
- Implement advanced statistical procedures to obtain actionable insights.
- Create machine learning models.
- Develop end-to-end ML pipelines
- Create AI agents
- Visualize and communicate results such that non-technical founders understand statistical insights.
Who you are
- Creative, curious and tech-savvy.
- Up to date with programming software and apps used in ML/AI
- Familiarity with data engineering software tools
- Have an exceptional understanding of statistics and mathematics.
- Skilled at writing algorithms and problem-solving.
- An analytical nerd who is passionate about data.
What we're looking for
Required:
- Working towards a BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics or other related quantitative fields. Pre-MBA and Pre-PhD students are especially encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Excellent understanding of statistics, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra.
- Advanced coursework in machine learning and programming.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively influence others
- Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment
Nice-to-have:
- Some familiarity with SQL
- Experience with Data Visualization tools and languages.
