Associate Director Youth Programs

The Associate Director of Youth Programs reports to NIA’s Director of Operations and supervises Multi-Site Program Supervisors in the management of all school- and center-based NIA youth programming.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Direct supervision of assigned Multi-Site Program Supervisors.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Multi-Site Program Supervisors, remaining readily available for support, to help with troubleshooting, communicating with parents/principals as needed.
  • Ensuring the Director of Operations stays apprised of any program concerns or emergencies in real time, including compliance with DYCD requirements and OCFS regulations.
  • Connect Multi-Site Program Supervisors with other NIA resources, including coordination with Director of Education and Director of Capacity Building when supports are needed on site.
  • Respond to and process program orders and event requests as needed, working in partnership with fiscal team, Administrative Assistant, and Assistant Executive Director. Review requests for errors or questions, ensure purchases align with program goals, and ensure check payment requests are submitted with complete documentation.
  • Monitor program enrollment and participation, scheduled activities, and quality to ensure alignment with funder expectations. Prepare reports for Director of Operation’s review.
  • Oversee the selection, hiring, orientation, and ongoing training of Multi-Site Program Supervisors and Program Directors.
  • Assist with data collection and funder reporting as needed, including support with program progress reports, review of program rate of participation, and review of program workscopes.
  • Assist with the coordination and development of organization-wide program events, including assistance with scheduling, logistics, and day-of event facilitation.
  • Represent NIA at professional conferences, school, and community events.
  • Prepare for and participate in bi-weekly meetings with Director of Operations to discuss status of assigned programs.
  • Conduct regular review of program compliance status, including mandatory fire safety certificates, CPR/First Aid certifications, and DOH SACC licensing mandates.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all assigned Multi-Site Program Supervisors.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including topics required to maintain organization compliance with funder and licensing requirements.
  • Additional tasks as assigned to meet organizational goals.

Qualifications:

 

  • Demonstrated professional experience within a youth-serving program or organization.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role, overseeing youth-serving professionals.
  • SAC credential or equivalent educational experience required.
  • Experience and expertise in the utilization of program-related online systems, and strong knowledge of funder, licensor, and NYCPS requirements is required.
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, and team-building skills, including the ability to motivate, align staff efforts to changing priorities and approaches, set goals, delegate responsibilities, and manage staff performance so as to ensure effective service delivery in accordance with organizational goals and program contracts.
  • Must be an effective communicator and possess strong public speaking and writing skills.
  • The ability to work independently, assess priorities, take initiative, be flexible, and thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects. 
  • Must be computer proficient and skilled in managing multiple administrative tasks.
