Title of Position: Student Assistant 2 

Job Description:

  • work with graduate student and post-doc scientists on genetic studies.  
  • Learn to Isolate DNA from tissues of different species, 
  • Participates in student Journal club
  • Responsible, honest and reliable
  • Engaged scientifically with piers, post-docs and scientists. 
  • Strong work ethic. 
  • work in a team based environment 
  • Understand laboratory safety skills, follow BUA guidelines and comply with LHAT standards.
  • Help with administrative tasks (ordering reagents, collecting receipts, organizing calendar requests).

 

Qualifications:

  • Genetics/genomic major preferred
  • knowledge on working in a science laboratory or medical field.
  • Knowledge of general laboratory safety practices.
  • knowledge of general laboratory procedures and safety procedures 
  • Ability to follow protocols and stay within compliance of USDA and EH&S standards.
  • Ability to follow direction; work individually and as a team.
  • Ability to stay self-motivated and continue to advance knowledge and skill sets.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and focus on assigned tasks.

Approximate hours per week: up to 20 hours/week 

Pay Range/Hourly Rate: SA II starting rate Starting $16.90/hr.

Start and End date: June 15, 2026-June 30 2027
