CALENDAR: 176B
SCHEDULE: 2:15 PM - 6:15 PM, MONDAY - FRIDAY
LOCATION: GATEWAY COLLEGE PREPARATORY SCHOOL, GEORGETOWN TEXAS
POSITION SUMMARY
The After School Crew Member is responsible for supervising and engaging with a designated group of students through daily activities including homework assistance, games, enrichment activities, crafts, and physical recreation while maintaining a safe, structured, and positive environment.
Our staff actively engages with children in a responsible, enthusiastic, and meaningful manner in order to provide a safe and positive after school experience. On a daily basis, staff members fulfill the roles of encourager, mentor, participant, role model, and mediator through various activities. Team members must be ready to learn something new every day, enjoy physical activity, get messy, maintain a positive attitude, adapt to changing situations, and be prepared to IMPACT lives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Effectively prepare, energetically lead, and actively participate in activities for small and large groups of students
- Supervise and interact with children in a safe, fun, positive, and responsible manner
- Maintain accountability and appropriate supervision of assigned students at all times
- Facilitate daily activities including homework help, arts and crafts, games, enrichment activities, and outdoor play
- Support group leaders with beginning-of-day and end-of-day duties
- Ensure duties are accomplished in the event of a staff absence, emergency, or parent conference
- Positively model appropriate behavior and coach students through conflict resolution and behavior redirection
- Communicate openly and professionally with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and participation
- Build positive relationships with students through encouragement, mentorship, and engagement
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to procedures and expectations outlined in the school district employee handbook
- Actively support fellow staff members with activities, group management, planning, and problem-solving
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping down tables, cleaning, and organizing supplies and equipment daily
- Assist with student healthcare needs such as basic first aid, distributing snacks, and administering medications as directed
- Participate in physical, active, and high-energy activities with students
- Attend weekly staff meetings to collaborate, create lessons and planned activities
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude at all times
Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position

Experience
- Experience working with school-age children in small or large group settings preferred
- Experience in an after school or summer program preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Must be at least 17 years of age and a senior in high school, or
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
TRAINING
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- CPI Certified (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- Child Abuse Awareness and Bullying Awareness Training
Other designated staff training as required
DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS
- Closed-toe shoes
- Comfortable and appropriate attire suitable for working with children and participating in activities
Staff member shirt (provided)
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Duties involve walking, sitting, standing, indoor and outdoor activities, and occasional lifting.
- Must maintain a level of general physical and emotional health that permits effective performance of duties.
Regularly lifts and carries up to 50 pounds. Requires a high level of mental alertness and the ability to tolerate moderate to high levels of stress in a fast-paced environment.
