JOB TITLE:                     Energy & Conservation Specialist 

 

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:         

Under the direction of the Division Director, the primary responsibilities are to assist in the development of renewable energy, energy efficiency and water conservation programs in Will County. Serve as liaison or project manager for the County’s: Emission reduction, Energy, Waste and Water Conservation programs. This may include communicating regularly with local utilities, U.S. Department of Energy (or other Federal or State entities), energy organizations, managing contractors, issuing RFP’s or RFQ’s to recruit/retain contractors, or in applying for technical assistance. Occasional after hours (evening) work is necessary. On average, this position will participate in one or two outreach events per month. Some events are held outside of standard work hours and may require weekends. The Division coordinates five (5) to six (6) outreach events per year such as electronic recycling and household hazardous drop-off waste events. 

 

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineer, Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Environmental or Sustainable Management, Energy Management, Energy Studies, or related field is required. Prior experience or internships is preferred. Must have valid driver’s license and minimum liability insurance required by law.

SALARY RANGE:           Exempt; $57,000 (Minimum Compensation) - $62,000 (Maximum Compensation)
