Job Description
- This position is located in our Washington, DC office. This is a hybrid position.
JOB SUMMARY
This position provides business development support to firmwide practice and industry groups. The Business Development Assistant will provide support for a broad range of functions including research, maintenance of attorney biographies, drafting and posting content for the website related to events and completed matters, supporting events and sponsorships, and providing assistance to other members of the business development team who support the firm’s practice areas and strategic initiatives. In addition, this position will provide administrative support to the department including document maintenance and data entry. The Business Development Assistant should be a self-starter who works well in a team and enjoys a fast-paced, collegial environment. Great working atmosphere in a team setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with writing, editing, and proofreading of business development content, such as webpages, biographies, brochures, matters and case descriptions, speaking engagement write-ups, publications, and other marketing materials
- Carry out administrative tasks, including assistance with PowerPoints, budgets, client classification, matter database maintenance and management, and meeting scheduling
- Support Regulatory Business Development Team in preparing, documenting, and following up on responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including final document preparation, tracking pitch and proposal activity, and maintaining a library of pitch materials
- Conduct research on prospects and clients and write clear, concise reports of findings
- Participate in competitor tracking and research, and monitor industry business intelligence
- Work on special business development projects or research tasks as assigned
- Attend practice / industry group meetings to develop an understanding and awareness of the field
- Help prepare and coordinate directory and award submissions, such as Chambers and Legal 500
- Manage and evaluate sponsorships, including ads and tables
- Provide in-person event support
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- High level of interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills
- Solid proofreading skills required
- Must be client service-oriented
- Proficiency in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and AI tools
- Excellent organizational skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in an atmosphere of concurrent projects, shifting priorities, and deadlines
- Flexibility for some overtime (morning and evening) required
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; Business or Marketing-related concentration preferred
- Experience:
Entry level up to 2 years’ experience. Previous internship or work experience in marketing preferred.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position that is eligible for a generous overtime plan that exceeds minimum legal requirements.
The anticipated good-faith base salary range for this position is:
- DC: $60,000 to $72,000 per year.
Your exact offer will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. We also review compensation regularly against industry benchmarks and performance outcomes, so you can grow your career here with confidence—knowing your pay recognizes both your impact and our commitment to an equitable approach.
In addition to a competitive base salary, certain positions are eligible for a comprehensive performance-based bonus, payable monthly or annually.
