ABOUT
The Coordinator, Center for Anatomy and Physiology, is responsible for operating and maintaining the Center for Anatomy and Physiology (CAP). This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining inventory, ordering equipment and disposable materials, and ensuring the cleanliness of the CAP.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES
- Responsible for creating the Fall, Spring, and Summer schedules for the CAP. Schedules will be finalized by the Department Chair of Life Sciences.
- Responsible for securing substitutes to ensure adequate coverage of the CAP room is maintained and accessible for students.
- Work cooperatively with faculty members and tutors in an effort to contribute to the overall instructional effectiveness of the CAP.
- Manage student tutors, as necessary, to assure the CAP Resource Schedule is maintained.
- Provide 40 hours of tutoring per week, in the CAP.
- Tutor students during one-to-one appointments in the CAP room and online to identify and address understanding of subject content.
- Guide and support students toward independent learning by suggesting and modeling study skills and proper practices for college success.
- Keep precise records of student visits/no shows.
- Reflect and improve upon tutoring techniques by researching tutoring methods during downtime.
- Report problems to the Department Chair of Life Sciences.
- Ensure that the center continues to function as a safe learning space for students.
Cross-Train with Laboratory Coordinators to offer support of prepping labs when necessary.

Work Environment: Work is rarely required outside of normal business hours
Physical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, lifting up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds.
Travel Required: No
If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
WHO YOU ARE
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences or a related field
Required Experience
Two years of related experience
Preferred Education
Master’s Degree with 18 hours in the life sciences area
Additional Job-Specific Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience with standard laboratory equipment
- Knowledge of current laboratory methods and of basic first-aid procedures
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
