Multi Media Specialist

Primary Purpose: 

This position plays a vital role in advancing KISD’s communication and marketing efforts by creating  compelling multimedia content that highlights district initiatives, campuses, students, and staff. The  Multimedia Specialist develops and produces high-quality video, graphics, web, and digital storytelling  content to support strategic communications, brand consistency, and community engagement. This position  requires creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced,  collaborative environment. 

Qualifications: 

Education/Certification: 

Bachelor’s degree preferred; five years’ experience in the use and maintenance of video/audio production  and recording equipment and lighting equipment required. Possess current driver’s license.  

Special Knowledge/Skills: 

Experience with photo/video equipment, editing software and multimedia tools (DSLR camera, Creative  Cloud applications). Experience with video storytelling, lighting, audio and editing, and producing.  Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro and other video software. Understanding of the digital  landscape and a proven interest in keeping up to date with developments in creative applications and social  platforms. Experience working independently and collaboratively with content strategists, designers,  writers, and broad cross-functional teams. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to  perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

Plans, develops, and produces multimedia content from concept to completion, including scripting, filming,  editing, graphic design, and final delivery across digital platforms. 

Collaborates with Communications team members and district stakeholders to create engaging content  aligned with district goals, branding standards, and messaging priorities. 

Captures and produces video and photo content at district and campus events, including occasional evening  and weekend assignments. 

Coordinates and executes livestreams for district events at campuses and offsite locations, ensuring high  production quality and adherence to district standards.

 

Leads video board operations for district stadiums during football season and other large-scale events,  including content preparation, systems operation, and coordination with event staff. 

Operates and maintains professional video, audio, and lighting equipment for both live and recorded  productions. 

Designs and develops digital assets such as social media graphics, presentations, and marketing collateral. 

Manages and maintains multimedia assets, including video libraries, photo archives, and production files,  ensuring proper organization, accessibility, and compliance with district standards. 

Supports and troubleshoots multimedia equipment, software, and production workflows in both studio and  field environments. Assists with audio/visual setup and technical support for district events and  presentations as needed. 

Maintains district video platforms (e.g., YouTube, myVRspot) and supports optimization of content delivery  and audience engagement. 

Provides training and guidance to staff on multimedia tools, equipment, and event production best  practices. 

Ensures all multimedia content and production processes adhere to district branding guidelines, accessibility  standards, safety expectations, and legal requirements. 

Stays current on multimedia, video production, and digital communication trends, recommending  innovative strategies and tools to enhance district storytelling. 

Works effectively under tight deadlines, managing multiple projects while maintaining high-quality  standards. 

Supports other members of the Communications Services team in fulfillment of departmental goals and  initiatives. 

Performs other duties as assigned.  

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Occasionally supervises employees and students during designated projects. Carries out supervisory  responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include  interviewing, recommending for hire, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work;  appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving  problems.  

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: 

Tools/Equipment Used: Ability to use peripheral devices, high level language programming concepts, data  management software, and application development tools. 

Posture/Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping,  pushing/pulling, twisting. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be  met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties  of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear, to use hands to finger, handle, or feel,  and to stand and walk. The employee is required to regularly lift and carry (less than 15 pounds). Specific  vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.  

Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking,  grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders. 

Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45  pounds and over). 

Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an  employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Occasional district-wide travel to  multiple campuses, as assigned. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; emotional control under stress.
