Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Programs

Description:

To collaboratively develop and oversee the implementation of the districts instructional programs, including regular education, special education, career and technology, early childhood, technology, and personnel.

Qualifications:

1. Valid Alaska Type “B” Administrative Certificate required.
2. Not less than three years demonstrated successful experience in educational administration required.
3. At least two years demonstrated successful experience as a special education teacher preferred.
4. Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.

Duties:

1. Supervises the special education department programs.
2. Supervises all teaching and classified personnel assigned to the department.
3. Prepares and is responsible for the management of the department’s budget.
4. Supervises the preparation of all department reports.
5. Assists in the development of curriculum related to special education, bilingual, and vocational education programs.
6. Assists with technical support for site administrators.
7. Guides a cooperative effort in the development of the district’s Bilingual Education and Special Education Annual Plans of Service.
8. Assist in the development of curriculum so as to insure that it is responsive to the needs of the communities served by the Lower Kuskokwim School District.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
