(OP, DUI, &/or Residential) Substance Use Disorder Counselor/Intern- Registered/Certified

Summary

We are seeking exceptional Counselors with a passion for working with adolescents and/or adults. This position provides counseling to individuals and groups regarding substance use disorders and related behavioral health issues. We offer a team-based and collaborative approach to identify client strengths and needs, develop and implement a recovery-based treatment plan, and provide individual, family and group counseling focused on increasing client success and promoting wellness while ensuring treatment remains in compliance with all state, federal, agency and all other applicable rules and regulations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have a license, certification, or registration to provide substance use counseling services
  • Ability to exhibit empathy with chemical dependency patients
  • Knowledge of resources, methods, and techniques for all phases of recovery
  • Extensive knowledge of the disease of chemical dependency
  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and administrative requirements for DUI/Outpatient/Inpatient programs, and other agency programs
  • Experience in delivering individual and group counseling
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally
  • Knowledge of legal confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to present a professional image to the Community
  • Ability to perform case management and administrative duties
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with peers, supervisors, and persons served
  • Knowledge of computer case management
  • General knowledge of 12-step programs and principles
  • Bilingual candidate, preferred

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Counseling - Facilitate groups, instruction, and education related to chemical dependency
  • Evaluation and Crisis Management – Of clients presenting chemical dependency problems
  • Care Coordination – To other services and modalities with the GWC system of care and/or agencies as appropriate to patient needs
  • Conduct Intake/Exit Interviews
  • Confidentiality – shall be consistent with and shall not violate the confidentiality of Alcohol or Drug Patients as set forth in 42 CFR Part 2, and California Law
  • Administrative Responsibilities – Including charting, correspondence, filing, and liaison
    • Charting for groups and individual counseling
    • Maintain daily statistical reports for end of month allocation submissions
    • Review individual caseload charts monthly to confirm accuracy and compliance with client contracts
    • Period cross-auditing of patient files with other counselors
    • Computer literacy knowledge to perform duties above
  • Perform Other Office and Community Activities – As may be required to balance workload within the Agency and other contract services such as Crisis Management. Hot-line monitoring, Drop-in Center counseling, and referral
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education:

  • Registered Counselors must obtain at least a RADT, SUDRC, or RAC
  • Certified Counselors must obtain at least a CADC-I, SUDCC-I, or CATC-I

 

Pay Rate:

Intern Counselor:

  • Bracket 1 (0 Experience): $19 - $20
  • Bracket 2 (1 Year Chemical Dependency): $20 -21
  • Bracket 3 (School Finished – Ready to Test): $21 - $22
  • Bracket 4 (School Finished - Ready to Test - Completed Bachelors): $23 - $24

Certified Counselors:

  • Bracket 1 (CADC-1 & SUDCC-1): $23 - $24
  • Bracket 2 (CADC-2 & SUDCC-2): $24 - $25
  • Bracket 3 (CADC-3 & SUDCC-3): $26+
