Theatre Production Manager
Eau Claire Children’s Theatre is a non-profit, volunteer-driven community theatre providing quality theatrical and educational experiences for western Wisconsin residents of all ages. Founded in 1989, our Children’s Theatre will be starting its 38th Season this fall. Our theatre has four main areas of programming:
- mainstage productions of major Broadway musicals
- school matinees of shows based on award-winning children’s literature
- touring productions
- summer theatre classes
Each season ECCT produces 16 shows along with a variety of special events, at three main venues- the new $60 million dollar Pablo Center at the Confluence (1200 seat RCU Theatre and 400 seat JAMF Theatre) and the 275 seat theatre owned by ECCT, The Oxford. With annual attendance of 30,000-32,000 patrons and an annual budget of over $660,000, the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre is one of the largest community theatres in western Wisconsin and one of only a handful of children’s theatres in the state, serving both youth and adult performers.
Typically our full and part-time paid staffing consists of the following positions:
- Executive Director
- Outreach Coordinator
- Production Manager
- Shop Carpenter
- Part-Time Scenic Artist
- Technical Director
- Costume and Wardrobe Staff (x2)
- Technical Interns (1 or 2)
- Costume Interns (1 or 2)
- Part-time Costume Shop Manager

ECCT PRODUCTION MANAGER
I. POSITION OBJECTIVES: To provide superior expertise in the area of production management for all ECCT productions, rentals and special events to include scenic design, construction and painting. To oversee day to day facilities operations and maintenance for ECCT and The Oxford. To be an active member of the Production Staff, assisting in the areas of properties construction, lighting, sound, special effects and/or other technical areas as capable.
II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Recruited by: Executive Director
Salary/Benefits: Annual salary $38,000-$42,000 BOE
Monthly health insurance stipend provided
Monthly cell phone allowance provided
Paid vacations, holidays and sick days
Schedule: Position start date as early as August 3, 2026 and no later than August 31, 2026. Full time salaried position; schedule will flex between afternoon, evening and weekend hours depending on ECCT production schedule
III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Production Assistant, Scenic Artist, Community volunteers, Interns
Coordinates with: Properties volunteers
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
·BA/BS in Technical Theatre, Construction Management, Scenic Construction or Design, Tech Ed or related field desired or comparable experience in the field
· Demonstrated scenic construction ability, design ability and painting ability
· Knowledge of theatrical lighting and sound reproduction
· Knowledge of theatrical style, conventions and terminology
· Strong oral communication skills
· Background in or appreciation of theatre
· Demonstrated ability to work with volunteers
· Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously
· Strong organizational skills and highly motivated with strong work ethic
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
V. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND SAMPLE TASKS:
· Provide production management expertise for all ECCT productions. Shows coming up in the 2026-2027 Season include COME FROM AWAY, PETE THE CAT, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, MEAN GIRLS, DRAGONS LOVE TACOS, SPAMALOT, Disney's THE LION KING JR.
· Assist with outside rentals and special events like Dancing with the Eau Claire Stars
· Assist with lighting and sound for productions and special events as capable
· Supervise volunteers on work nights, during load ins and strikes
· Assist props coordinator with construction-related projects
· Complete building maintenance projects as capable
· Other duties as assigned
