Impact Makers Intern (Paid Internship)

Organization: Volunteer Center – Torrance, CA
Program: Impact Makers – Building Skills for Life
Compensation: $900 stipend (for 10 weeks)
Schedule: Part-time | ~5 hours/week
Location: Hybrid (In-person program sessions + remote work)

 

About the Organization

For over six decades, the Volunteer Center has engaged volunteers of all ages in hands-on programs that build empathy, leadership, and civic responsibility. Together, we address the most urgent needs in our community while creating opportunities for learning, growth, and impact.

About the Internship

The Impact Makers Intern supports a 8-week service-learning program for high school students (grades 9–12). Interns work closely with the Director of Programs to facilitate group discussions, support youth development, and assist with program logistics. This internship is ideal for students interested in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or youth development.

What You’ll Do

Facilitate small group discussions (5–8 students)

Support weekly cohort sessions (20–25 students)

Assist with student reflection using the CliftonStrengths Assessment (training provided)

Help coordinate wellness referrals with community partners

Support program preparation, logistics, and materials

Who We’re Looking For

Undergraduate (junior/senior) or graduate students in education, psychology, social work, counseling, or related fields

Experience working with youth or in group settings preferred

Strong communication and facilitation skills

Reliable, professional, and comfortable working with diverse student populations

Time Commitment

~5 hours per week for 10 weeks (approx. 50 hours total)

Must be available Wednesdays, 10:00–12:30 PM (in-person)

Additional meetings and projects completed both in person and remotely
