Summer 2027 Construction Internship

The Opportunity

As a Summer Construction Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside industry leaders on real projects, developing the skills and confidence needed to launch your career in construction, engineering, safety and business.

Our goal is to provide you with meaningful, real-world experience that prepares you for a full-time opportunity with Walbridge upon graduation.

Our internships are competitive, paid positions offered during the summer months, with opportunities to continue part-time during the academic year.

Location

You will have the opportunity to work from our enterprise headquarters in Detroit, MI, or from one of our regional offices or project sites across the Midwest and Southeastern United States. 

What You’ll Do

• Support the coordination of on-site construction and engineering activities on active projects
• Interpret drawings, specifications, submittals, and other construction documents
• Work alongside Superintendents, Project Managers, and Engineers to support daily project operations
• Assist with subcontractor coordination, planning, and project documentation
• Collaborate with field and office teams to solve problems, maintain quality, and keep projects on schedule

To Qualify, you must

• Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
• Be passionate about construction, engineering, or related fields.
• Have ability to travel.
• Have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Be eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a dynamic team environment.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Previous internship, construction, or military experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience through projects, competitions, student organizations or volunteer work.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced dynamic environments.
