Early Childhood Education Intern

Position Overview

Well Side Kids™ Connect & Create Space is seeking a warm, energetic, and dependable Early Childhood Education Intern to help facilitate 90-minute sessions featuring guided activity rotations and child engagement experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for someone pursuing a career in early childhood education, child development, psychology, family studies, occupational therapy, or a related field.

The intern will play an important role in creating a calm, engaging, and positive environment where children can explore, connect, create, and thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate 15-minute activity rotations for children ages 4–6
  • Guide and engage children through intentional play experiences including:
    • Art & creative expression
    • Kinetic sand exploration
    • Light table activities
    • Building & hands-on play
    • Calm-down and regulation support in the cozy teepee corner
  • Help children transition smoothly between stations and activities
  • Encourage creativity, cooperation, focus, and positive social interaction
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and emotionally supportive environment
  • Support children with redirection and age-appropriate behavior guidance when needed
  • Assist with setup, organization, cleaning, and resetting stations between sessions
  • Help create a positive experience for both children and parents/caregivers
  • Model patience, warmth, and calm interactions with children

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in:
    • Early Childhood Education
    • Child Development
    • Family Studies
    • Psychology
    • Education
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Social Work
    • Related field
  • Experience working with young children preferred
  • Comfortable leading small groups of children in an active environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, engaging, patient, and creative
  • Interest in child wellness, intentional play, and social-emotional development preferred

Schedule
