Child Development Screener

Lifesteps has an immediate need for a part-time Child Development Screener to work in the Butler, PA area.

Position Summary:

The Child Development Screener works to screen children, evaluate developmental progress, and share the results with their family in a professional manor.

The Child Developmental Screener schedules, conducts, and scores developmental screenings for children ages birth to 5 years old.

· Duties include calling families, daycare centers and children’s groups to schedule screenings.

· Follows the screening tool to evaluate hearing, speech, motor skills, and cognitive areas.

· Sharing the results of the screening with families in a professional manner.

· Provides families with information on developmentally appropriate activities, services, and child development.

· Travel throughout the assigned area to conduct meetings and screenings.

Office duties consist of answering telephones, using Microsoft Outlook to schedule appointments, track screenings in a database or excel file, create reports, type letters, etc.

This position works in the Butler area, Monday through Thursday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

NO WEEKENDS, EVENINGS or HOLIDAYS!!

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

· High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years’ experience working with children - can be paid or unpaid work such as Summer Camps, Church Nursery, Babysitting, Bible School, Daycare, Childcare staff, Assistant Group Supervisor, Teacher Aide, Volunteering with children, etc.

· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance

· Ability to provide acceptable clearances

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

· Good communication skills (verbal and written)

· Current driver’s license and the ability to travel for business with personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement available)

Preferred:

· Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Services or related field
