Summer Teacher - DCOM Kids Club

Dream Centers of Michigan is a Christian non-profit that exists to empower individuals and families to achieve stability and self-sufficiency through holistic programs and services. This summer, we are hosting a 5-week summer program designed to enrich the lives of children in grades 1–5 through academic support, creative expression, and social development. 

Kids Club Teachers are responsible for leading a grade-level classroom (1st–5th grade), delivering engaging instruction, and creating a structured and supportive learning environment. This role provides both instructional leadership and classroom oversight, ensuring students are supported academically, socially, and behaviorally throughout the experience.

This role also serves as the primary point of contact for families and provides direct supervision to Assistant Teachers and Student Assistants.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certification or in the process of obtaining certification
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged children (grades 1–5)
  • Strong classroom management and behavior leadership skills
  • Passion for youth development, educational equity, and creating positive student experiences

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and facilitates daily academic instruction and classroom activities
  • Delivers daily math and reading instruction using the Lavinia RISE curriculum
  • Manages a classroom of up to 18 students with professionalism and care
  • Monitors student progress and report outcomes to the Camp Program Director
  • Communicates regularly with parents regarding student progress and needs
  • Collaborates with staff to ensure student safety, engagement, and success
  • Manages classroom behavior using proactive and positive strategies
  • Attends and supervises students during all activities, including Friday field trips
  • Maintains daily attendance and ensures student accountability
  • Supervises and directs Assistant Teachers and Student Assistants within the classroom
