AI Automation Intern

ABOUT AMPLIFY

Amplify is a boutique business and design consultancy that helps Fortune 500 organizations move from strategy to launch. Our model pairs an executive-level Consulting practice with a high-fidelity Design Studio, accelerated by AI and 3D production workflows.

Operations is the agency’s engine room. Reporting up through the Director, Operations and led on the AI side by the Senior Manager, Operations (AI Technology), the Operations function owns the tooling, automation, and operating system that lets Amplify deliver Fortune-500-grade work without scaling headcount one-for-one.

SUMMARY

The Operations Intern — AI Automation & Development is a learning-and-doing role inside Amplify’s Operations function. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations (AI Technology), this intern directly contributes to Amplify’s AI workflow automation, MarTech stack administration, and operational tooling — under close mentorship, and with strict adherence to Amplify’s Human-in-the-Loop standard.

This is not a coffee-runs internship. The intern will build, test, and document AI workflows that the agency actually uses in client and operational work. Every output passes a senior review before it goes live. The expectation is that the intern leaves Amplify with a real portfolio of production-grade automation work — and the operating discipline that comes with it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. AI Automation & Workflow Development

  • Build, test, and iterate AI-assisted workflows under the Senior Manager’s direction — including agentic workflows for status reporting, SOW drafting assistance, time/billing reconciliation, vendor onboarding, and expense categorization.
  • Hands-on with modern AI tooling: LLM-based agents, prompt engineering, workflow orchestration platforms (Zapier, Make, n8n, Lindy/Relevance/Bardeen), and OpenAI / Anthropic / similar APIs.
  • Prepare data, prompt libraries, and evaluation test sets for new workflows; help define what “good enough to graduate” looks like for each one.
  • Document every workflow you build — clearly enough that someone else can operate it tomorrow.

2. MarTech & Internal Systems Support

  • Assist with day-to-day administration of Amplify’s operating stack: CRM, marketing automation, PM and time-tracking tools.
  • Contribute to list hygiene, segment maintenance, basic reporting, and dashboard upkeep alongside the Marketing Specialist.
  • Help integrate AI workflows into existing systems rather than creating parallel shadow tooling.

3. Operations Process Improvement

  • Identify candidate workflows for automation by observation and conversation — bring at least one well-scoped proposal forward per month.
  • Maintain the AI tooling evaluation matrix: what’s in production, what’s in pilot, what’s killed, and why.
  • Contribute to internal SOP documentation; capture institutional knowledge that doesn’t live in anyone’s head yet.

4. Standards & Safety

  • Apply Amplify’s Human-in-the-Loop standard with no exceptions. Every AI output goes through senior review before it touches a client or production system.
  • Maintain auditable trails for every workflow you build — prompts, models, parameters, outputs, and review history.
  • Operate only inside approved tools and processes; never commit Amplify to external creative or technical spend on your own.
  • Respect client confidentiality and the agency’s IP standards. All work created during the internship is Amplify intellectual property.

HANDS-ON TOOLING EXPECTATIONS

Interns at Amplify are expected to come with curiosity and learn fast. You don’t need to know every tool below on day one, but you should have hands-on exposure to several, and the appetite to ramp quickly on the rest.

  • LLM tooling: OpenAI / Anthropic / similar APIs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented and grounded systems, agent frameworks.
  • Automation platforms: Zapier, Make, n8n, Lindy, Relevance, Bardeen, or similar workflow orchestration tools.
  • Scripting / data: Python or JavaScript for glue work; SQL for basic data pulls; familiarity with JSON and APIs.
  • Operating stack admin: HubSpot or Salesforce; modern PM tooling (Asana, Monday, ClickUp, or Scoro); basic analytics and BI tools.
  • Documentation: ability to write a clean SOP, a clean prompt library, and a clean evaluation note.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Currently pursuing — or recently completed — a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Marketing, Operations Research, Business Analytics, or comparable.
  • Demonstrated, self-taught curiosity about modern AI tooling. Side projects, hackathons, automated workflows in personal life — anything that shows you build, not just consume.
  • Comfort with at least one of: Python or JavaScript, no-code automation platforms, or SQL.
  • Strong written communication; can document a workflow clearly enough that someone else can run it.
  • Bias for motion; comfortable shipping a v1 for senior review and iterating fast.
  • Honest about what you know and don’t know; ask questions early; treat feedback as a gift.
  • Strict respect for the Human-in-the-Loop standard — you understand why it exists and you don’t cut corners on it, ever.

LEARNING OUTCOMES — BY END OF INTERNSHIP

  1. At least 2 graduated, documented AI / automation workflows in production at Amplify, with measured time savings and Human-in-the-Loop gates in place.
  2. Documented contribution to Amplify’s internal AI tooling evaluation matrix.
  3. Working command of at least one production-grade automation platform and one LLM API.
  4. Direct exposure to enterprise client operations through Operations function support.
  5. A portfolio-ready set of artifacts: workflow documentation, prompt libraries, and one short automation case study you can show in future interviews.

MENTORSHIP MODEL

The Senior Manager, Operations (AI Technology) is your direct manager and primary mentor. You should expect a weekly 1:1, regular working sessions, and structured feedback on craft, tooling, and operating discipline. The expectation is that you arrive at every 1:1 with what you tried, what you learned, and where you’re stuck — not a status report.

You will also work cross-functionally with the Marketing Specialist on shared MarTech and reporting tooling, and you will have visibility into the Director, Operations and President on project and standards reviews.

HOW THIS ROLE LIVES THE AMPLIFY STANDARD

Interns at Amplify operate under the same Client & Work Standards as full-time team members. The expectations below are non-negotiable:

  • Elevated by Default — anything that touches a client is finished work, never a rough draft.
  • Human-in-the-Loop on All AI Output — no AI-generated copy, imagery, motion, data, or automation output leaves the building without senior review and sign-off. There are no shortcuts on this for interns.
  • Bias for Motion — ship a v1 for senior review, iterate fast, and escalate blockers rather than sitting on them.
  • Leave an Echo, Not a Mess — clean handoffs, organized files, and documented decisions are a baseline, not a bonus.
  • Confidentiality — all client information, strategies, and assets are strictly confidential; no public references without explicit approval.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Amplify is an equal opportunity employer. We hire, promote, and reward based on capability, character, and contribution — regardless of race, gender, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or background. We actively cultivate an inclusive, respectful, and high-trust environment.
