TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION
The overall responsibility of a Port Haven teacher is to pursue the
goal of building loving leaders by daily focusing on specific
goals and standards, whether they be disciplinary or
educative, which agree with the philosophy and plan of
PHIA, and guide students to those goals with love,
communication, and guidance. The teacher has the
greatest opportunity to positively impact the student and
therefore the greatest opportunity to encourage the
parents. Teachers are expected to love their students by
choosing to give of their own comfort in every day
situations remembering that education is not merely an
employment opportunity, but a responsibility to positively
train succeeding generations. Communication with
students and parents should be clear, kind, and constant.
Guidance needs to be given consistently and purposefully
in order to bring the student to an expected goal. Teachers
should obtain a copy of the expectation handbook created
by the administration for clear and concise guidelines for
what is expected.
Teaching Personnel Includes•
- The Full-Time Teacher: Teacher who has a
specific class for the first hour of the day is the home-
room teacher. Full-Time teachers teach 20 or more hours per week.
Teacher Responsibilities Include: Discipleship - “Love,
Communicate, and Guide.”
1. Teach subjects and classes as assigned using
curriculum, supplementary materials, field trips,
special guests, etc., to enhance the learning
environment.
2. Attend and participate in Teachers’ meetings and
other events assigned.
3. Supervise during recess, lunch, and other specified
times as scheduled.
4. Complete paperwork
including, but not limited to, the following:
a. Report cards 4 times per year.
b. Interim reports.
c. Grade records for permanent file.
d. Inventories of classroom equipment/supplies/books.
e. Records of attendance.
f. Administration and scoring of achievement (or
proficiency) test.
g. Logs for Administrative Cost Reimbursement Program.
h. Honor roll lists.
i. Purchase orders for auxiliary funds requests, curriculum
needs, and classroom supplies.
j. Other paperwork as assigned or requested.

5. Buildings/classroom cleaning.
a. Be responsible for ensuring daily tidying of classroom area.
b. End-of-year cleaning of classroom area.
c. Assist in overall cleanliness of facilities.
d. Promptly report repair needs to the administration.
6. Plan parties at designated holidays
7. Consistently maintain proper classroom discipline according to established policies, and refer students to the administrator for additional discipline as indicated in the discipline policy.
8. Be available to any parents or students who wish to have a pre-arranged conference before or after school.
9. Hold conferences with parents of each student twice yearly.
10. Participate in the school’s After School Hours Program as scheduled
