Overview

The United States Navy is seeking highly motivated Pharmacy students and future Pharmacists (PharmD) to serve as commissioned officers through the Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP).

The HSCP provides financial support and active-duty benefits to qualified students enrolled in accredited pharmacy programs while preparing them to become officers in Navy Medicine. This program offers students the opportunity to receive a monthly salary and military benefits while completing their education and preparing for a rewarding healthcare career in the United States Navy.

Upon completion of pharmacy school and commissioning requirements, participants will serve as Navy Pharmacists providing pharmaceutical care and medication management services to Sailors, Marines, and their families around the world.

Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP) Incentives

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Navy Pharmacist, responsibilities may include:

• Dispensing medications and ensuring safe pharmaceutical practices
• Reviewing prescriptions for accuracy and patient safety
• Providing medication counseling and patient education
• Collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams on treatment plans
• Supporting operational and deployment medicine
• Managing pharmaceutical inventory and clinical pharmacy operations
• Delivering care in hospitals, clinics, and operational medical environments worldwide

Requirements to Become a Navy Commissioned Officer

Applicants must generally meet the following qualifications:

• United States citizen
• Accepted to or enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program
• Meet Navy medical and physical fitness standards
• Eligible to obtain a security clearance
• Demonstrate strong moral character and leadership potential
• Able to commission before age 42 (waivers may be considered)
• Successfully complete Navy officer accession requirements

• Guam
• Hawaii
• Rota, Spain
• Naples, Italy
• Bahrain
• Aboard U.S. Navy ships and with operational Marine Corps units

Duty stations are assigned based on the needs of the Navy and mission requirements.
