Summer Software Engineering Intern
The senior lead doesn't write code from scratch. Neither will you.
We're a tiny team — one senior lead plus a part-time backend
specialist — building a field-service-management platform at AES,
an environmental-test-chamber manufacturer in MA. You will not
be parked on a make-work project or buried under engineering
managers. You'll sit one message from the person who designed the
system and ship code that real service coordinators and field
technicians will use, with active user feedback shaping the
product as you build.
The role is unusual in one specific way: we use Claude Code
(Anthropic's AI dev tool) for all code generation. You won't be
writing production TypeScript or React from scratch — you'll be
directing an AI at engineering work and catching it when it's wrong.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
• Strong academic record (high GPA at a good or great school)
• At least one SHIPPED project — something running where a stranger
could use it (deployed web app, published CLI tool, app in
TestFlight, browser extension, active bot)
• Demonstrated AI-tool use in real building — link your best AI-built work (a PR, a deployed project, or a repo, ideally with a CLAUDE.md)
• Schema and data-flow literacy + diff-reading instinct
• Clear written communication
• Curiosity about the customer domain (field service, calibration,
manufacturing)
TYPESCRIPT/REACT FLUENCY IS NOT REQUIRED. The senior lead doesn't
write code from scratch either — we direct Claude Code together.
LOGISTICS
• 10 weeks: June 15 – August 22, 2026
• 20–40 hrs/wk depending on availability
• $30–40/hr, W-2, Anthropic API access included
• Remote-default; occasional in-person days in Chelmsford or Waltham, MA
• US person + standard background check required (customer data
sensitivity). Unable to sponsor F-1/OPT for this role.
STACK
Next.js 14 (App Router, RSC, Server Actions), TypeScript strict,
Prisma + Postgres, Tailwind + shadcn/ui, NextAuth, Twilio,
Anthropic SDK, Playwright.
NO LEETCODE. NO WHITEBOARD. Bring a real Claude Code PR — we'll
read the diff.
