Whizara is looking for passionate and engaging American Sign Language (ASL) Instructors to lead interactive after-school classes for K–12 students this summer.

 

This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with kids and want to introduce students to the beauty of ASL and Deaf culture in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment. Whether you’re an experienced signer or still growing your ASL skills, we welcome enthusiastic instructors who are excited to teach and inspire.

 

No formal teaching experience is required. We provide curriculum guidance, lesson structure, and support so you can focus on creating an engaging classroom experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead engaging ASL classes for K–12 students using provided curriculum and materials
  • Introduce students to American Sign Language and Deaf culture through interactive activities
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment
  • Adapt instruction for different age groups and learning styles
  • Encourage participation, confidence, and communication among students
  • Maintain a positive and organized classroom atmosphere
  • Communicate professionally with staff, parents, and program coordinators
  • Arrive prepared and ready to deliver an exceptional class experience

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Interest or experience in American Sign Language
  • Open to beginner, intermediate, or advanced ASL users
  • Passion for education, communication, and working with children
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Patient, dependable, and enthusiastic personality
  • Comfortable leading groups of K–12 students
  • Reliable transportation to North Hills, CA
  • Prior teaching, tutoring, camp, or youth experience is a plus—but not required
