PA Kids Summer Camp Assistant (Seasonal)
Pay: $16–$18 per hour
Position Overview
Spend your summer making a difference in the lives of children.
PA Kids is seeking energetic, dependable, and positive Summer Camp Assistants to help create a safe, fun, and engaging camp experience for elementary-aged campers. Summer Camp Assistants work alongside Lead Teachers to facilitate activities, supervise campers, support field trips, and help ensure daily camp operations run smoothly.
This position is ideal for education majors, future teachers, coaches, recreation professionals, childcare workers, and college students seeking meaningful experience working with youth.
Key Responsibilities
Camper Supervision
- Supervise groups of elementary-aged campers throughout the day
- Maintain a safe, positive, and engaging environment
- Support behavior management and reinforce camp expectations
- Assist with transitions between activities, meals, and field trips
Activity Support
- Assist with sports, games, arts and crafts, enrichment activities, and special events
- Encourage participation and positive social interaction
- Help prepare activity materials and equipment
- Lead small-group activities when assigned
Daily Operations
- Support camper check-in and check-out procedures
- Assist with snack and meal supervision
- Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness
- Assist with attendance and accountability procedures
Field Trips & Special Events
- Supervise campers during off-site activities and field trips
- Assist with attendance checks and camper accountability
- Help load and unload equipment and supplies
- Support staff in maintaining safety procedures throughout all outings
Team Support
- Collaborate with Lead Teachers and camp staff
- Communicate professionally with families and fellow team members
- Assist wherever needed to ensure a successful camp experience
- Serve as a positive role model for campers
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass required background screening
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to work in an active environment with children
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift equipment, and participate in camp activities throughout the day
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children in camps, schools, childcare, recreation, or youth sports programs
- Education, recreation, coaching, or childcare background
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience leading activities for groups of children
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Schedule & Availability
- Seasonal Summer Position
- Monday–Friday
- Approximately 30–40 hours per week
- Additional training and orientation required prior to camp start
