Child Watch Coordinator

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Child Watch Coordinator to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As a Child Watch Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and organizing age-appropriate activities for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support in planning part-time staff interviews and training.
  • Assist in recruiting and supervising volunteers to assist with programming support. 
  • Plan and organize age-appropriate activities. Play actively with the children.
  • Adapt activities to the needs of each.
  • Monitor the health and socialization of children daily.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and order in the child watch area.
  • Monitor the drop-off and pick-up of children to guarantee their safety while in our care. Greet parents and help children feel welcome.
  • Communicate regarding their child’s behavior. 
  • Monitor the day to day activities to maintain high quality operations to include safety, progress and fun

Are you a good fit?

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent (preferred).
  • One to two years of related experience as a coordinator of people or activities (preferred).
  • Ability to use computer and typical business software and office machines.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, and file maintenance.
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with [preschool-aged children] and diverse populations.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred.
  • Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.  
  • Complete other online and in-person training as required.

  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

 

Wage: $20.06 to $21.32 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours:  Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Lakewood Family YMCA, Lakewood, WA
