Early Childhood Assistant | Support Teacher

Reporting directly to the School Director, the Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher in a toddler classroom (ages 1–2). This role is essential in helping create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment aligned with NAEYC and PA state (DPW) guidelines. This is a full-time position. 

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities
- Actively engage with children using a learning-through-play approach
- Lead and assist with activities such as songs, storytelling, games, and hands-on exploration
- Help children develop foundational skills (colors, shapes, letters, numbers, social skills, and self-help skills)
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and families
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
- Supervise children during indoor/outdoor play, routines, and transitions
- Assist with classroom management, conflict resolution, and positive behavior support
- Help maintain daily logs
- Perform caregiving duties including diapering, toileting, meals/snacks, and clean-up
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations at all times
- Use the center’s communication system (Procare) for documentation and parent communication
- Float to other classrooms as needed to maintain ratios
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required PA clearances
- A genuine passion for working with young children
- Dependable, patient, and nurturing demeanor
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Respect for diversity and individual differences

Preferred Qualifications:
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential
- Experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool
- Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field (or coursework in progress)
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices

Additional Requirements:
- Must meet all Pennsylvania state licensing requirements, including:
Health assessment
Mandated Reporter Training
CPR/First Aid Certification
PA State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and actively engage with young children throughout the day
