Job Description

Cape Greens Farm is a commercial hydroponic farm based in Leland, North Carolina, specializing in indoor hydroponic production and outdoor field-grown specialty crops. We are seeking a reliable part-time farm assistant to support daily farm operations.

 

This is a hands-on position involving both indoor hydroponic systems and outdoor agricultural work in a fast-paced working farm environment.

 

Responsibilities

Assist with daily indoor hydroponic farm operations (NFT systems)

Support outdoor field work, including planting, maintenance, harvesting, and general crop care

Seeding, transplanting, pruning, harvesting, and packaging crops

Cleaning hydroponic equipment, grow channels, tools, and work areas

Monitor and maintain general farm organization and cleanliness

Assist with loading, unloading, lifting, and moving farm supplies and materials

Assist with local deliveries when needed

Follow farm safety procedures and operational instructions

Other farm-related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of continuous experience in agriculture, horticulture, greenhouse production, hydroponics, landscaping, or related hands-on farm work

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must maintain a valid driver’s license

Reliable transportation required

Strong communication skills

Ability to follow instructions and work independently

Good reliability, punctuality, and work ethic

Ability to perform physical labor in both indoor and outdoor environments

Personal vehicles used for deliveries must be properly insured as required by law

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

 

Schedule & Compensation

Part-time position

Approximately 20 hours per week

Monday through Friday

Work hours: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Compensation: Starting at $12/hour, with potential increase based on performance

Pay will be issued every two weeks

First 1 week will be considered a paid trial period to evaluate fit and performance

 

Additional Information

Employees are responsible for accurately recording their work start time, end time, and total hours worked each day

If personal vehicles are used for approved farm-related deliveries, Cape Greens Farm may provide mileage reimbursement based on work-related driving distance

Smoking or vaping is strictly prohibited inside all indoor farm and warehouse areas

Farm work may involve lifting, carrying, cutting, cleaning, climbing ladders, working in warm or humid conditions, and operating around water and electrical equipment

Open-toe shoes or sandals are prohibited in all farm areas

Employees are expected to follow safety instructions, use common sense, and immediately report unsafe conditions or injuries
