Description
I Can Education and Enrichment Center, Inc. is seeking energetic, caring, and engaging Part-Time and Part-Time Summer Discovery Teachers to support our faith-based summer enrichment program for school-aged children and youth. Teachers will provide high-quality instruction, supervise educational and recreational activities, and create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment during the summer program.
This position is ideal for certified teachers, student teachers, education majors, tutors, youth development professionals, and individuals passionate about helping children learn, grow, and have fun during the summer months.

Examples of Duties
- Facilitate engaging academic enrichment and summer learning activities.
- Lead classroom instruction and hands-on enrichment experiences.
- Supervise and guide groups of children in a safe and supportive environment.
- Maintain classroom structure, behavior expectations, and positive youth engagement.
- Support field trips, STEM activities, arts and crafts, recreation, literacy, and educational projects.
- Collaborate with program staff and leadership to support program goals.
- Track attendance and student participation.
- Assist with curriculum preparation and classroom organization.
Communicate professionally with staff, volunteers, parents, students, and others.
- Maintain punctuality, professionalism, and consistent attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field preferred.
- Michigan Certified Teachers, Student Teachers, Education Majors, Tutors, and Youth Program Staff are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with children or youth in educational, childcare, tutoring, camp, or recreational settings preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with school-aged children or youth.
- Strong classroom management and youth engagement skills.
- Ability to lead and supervise groups independently.
Positive and respectful communication skills, respectful friendly attitude, flexibility, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to child safety and educational growth.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and program schedules.
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching, tutoring, summer programs, or after-school program experience.
- Experience with STEM, arts, literacy, recreation, or enrichment programming.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Familiarity with social-emotional learning and youth development practices.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Training Requirements
All selected staff must successfully complete mandatory paid training prior to the start of the program.

Paid Training Days: Training information will be provided upon hire.

Typical program hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Part-time and Full-time schedules may vary based on assignment and enrollment.
Morning shifts and Afternoon shifts are available based on enrollment.

Work Environment
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to seasonal summer weather conditions. Staff may participate in outdoor recreation, field trips, and active youth programming activities. May be required to lift up to 50lbs.
