Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is looking to fill a Food Service Team Lead position. This position will work 8-hour shifts on a 14-day rotation with every other weekend off. Scheduled shifts include 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, 9:30 am – 6:00 pm and 9:45 am - 6:15 pm. Selected candidate must be able to work all shifts and may be required to work extended or additional shifts, depending on the needs of the facility. WMHI is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Position Summary

 

As a Food Service Team Lead you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Independently leading multiple Food Service Assistants (FSAs).
  • Assigning, prioritizing, and monitoring the work of WMHI Cafeteria FSAs in the three WMHI cafeterias. 
  • Assisting Food Service Managers with routine operations-related administrative duties. 
  • Ensuring that all policies, procedures, and protocols are followed in WMHI cafeterias. 
  • Serving quantity foods, cafeteria style, for approximately 200 people including 85-100 modified diets. 
  • Assembling all trays and nourishments for patients. 
  • Monitoring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. 
  • Upholding the security in the cafeteria areas. 
  • Following the policies and procedures set by WMHI and the Nutrition Services Department Administration.

Salary Information

 

The starting pay is $20.55 per hour (approximately $42,700 per year) or the minimum at the time of appointment, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

This position is eligible for a night differential of $0.80 for hours worked between 6:00 pm - 6:00 am, and a weekend differential of $0.80 for hours worked between midnight Friday to midnight Sunday. 

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Food Service Assistant 4 and is in pay schedule and range 03/11.

Job Details

 

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to complete a pre-employment health assessment including a TB screen prior to their start date which will be administered by WMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience working with mass food production in an institutional, educational, or professional setting (e.g., hospital, school, university, military, corporate, long-term care facility, etc.).
  • Experience in customer service in a food service setting (e.g., answering questions, resolving customer complaints/conflict, etc.).
  • Experience in a lead role (e.g., providing direction/training to others, mentoring teammates, providing feedback, etc.).

Well-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following:

  • Experience working with a hospital Electronic Health Record (EHR) system (e.g., Cerner, Epic, etc.).
  • Training or experience reading and processing diet orders. 
  • Experience working with specialized diets.
