Entry-Level CAD Operator
Southern Integrated Systems, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level CAD Operator to join our growing team in Tampa, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity for recent trade school or technical school graduates looking to begin a career in the electrical construction industry.
The CAD Operator will work closely with our engineering, project management, and field teams to assist with preparing electrical and low-voltage drawings, construction layouts, and project documentation for a variety of commercial and multi-family construction projects throughout Florida.
Position Summary
The Entry-Level CAD Operator will support the design and construction teams by creating and updating drawings using AutoCAD and other construction software platforms. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, highly organized, and interested in growing within the electrical construction industry.
Training and mentorship will be provided to help develop technical skills and industry knowledge.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with creating and revising electrical construction drawings and layouts
- Update as-built drawings and project documentation based on field markups
- Support project managers and superintendents with drafting needs
- Learn and apply company drafting standards and procedures
- Organize and maintain drawing files and project records
- Coordinate drawing updates with internal teams
- Assist with permit drawings, submittals, and closeout documentation
- Participate in project coordination meetings as needed
- Ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule
Qualifications
- Recent graduate from a trade school, technical school, or drafting/CAD program preferred
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD required
- Willingness to learn electrical construction drafting and industry standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Revit, Bluebeam, or BIM software
- Basic understanding of electrical or low-voltage systems
- Ability to read construction drawings or blueprints
