In-School Gardening Instructor (Fall)

Location: San Francisco, CA
Job Type: In-School Gardening Enrichment (Fall)
Schedule: Fall 2026 In-School Program
Hours: Minimum 5–10 hours per week
Pay: $30–$33 per hour (depending on experience)

 

Job Description

We are hiring an enthusiastic and engaging Gardening Instructor to lead in-school enrichment classes for elementary students during the Fall 2026 program.

This role introduces students to basic gardening, plant science, and environmental awareness through hands-on, interactive activities designed to encourage curiosity, responsibility, teamwork, and creativity.

Lessons may include planting activities, garden maintenance, nature-based projects, sustainability topics, and age-appropriate science explorations connected to gardening and the environment.

 

Responsibilities

Lead engaging, age-appropriate gardening lessons for elementary students
Facilitate hands-on planting, gardening, and nature-based activities
Encourage curiosity, teamwork, and environmental awareness
Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment
Manage classroom behavior professionally
Prepare materials prior to each session
Collaborate with school staff and program coordinators
Communicate regularly with the program team
Submit an after-class brief following every session

 

Requirements

Experience working with elementary-aged students
Comfortable leading hands-on gardening and outdoor activities
Knowledge of child-safe gardening practices and tools
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Reliable, organized, and professional
Must be able to submit an after-class brief after every session
Must pass a background check
Available for the full Fall 2026 in-school program

 

Preferred Qualifications

Background in gardening, environmental education, biology, agriculture, or enrichment programming
Experience teaching in a classroom or after-school setting
Familiarity with project-based or experiential learning approaches
Passion for sustainability, nature education, or outdoor learning
