Engineering Support Specialist / Mechanical Engineer

Haumiller Engineering is a 100% employee-owned company that designs and builds custom high-speed automation assembly machines for medical devices, consumer goods and industrial manufacturing.

The Engineering Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the engineering department by creating and maintaining documentation, manuals, department standards, and other technical writing assignments. This position also generates bill of materials (BOMs) and enters them into the ERP system. The Engineering Support Specialist is the primary CAD Administrator for the engineering department and supports CAD software for the Design Engineers.

This is an entry level position in the Mechanical Engineering department. 

This position is 100% onsite in our South Elgin, IL location. Occasional travel to our Belvidere, IL location may be required.

What You Will Do:

• CAD Administration for engineering with support from the IT dept.
• Complete documentation manuals, technical writing and documentation control 
• Manage the “Late Items” list and work with the purchasing department, engineering, and suppliers on supply chain issue.
• BOM Entries (BOM compare) 
• Perform mechanical design and detailing 
• Support the sales department with engineering drawings and data
• Train engineers on CAD best practices
 

What You Will Bring:

• Minimum of a 2-year technical degree or certificate with emphasis on mechanical design or equivalent experience 
• Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Previous experience with CAD administration preferred
• Ability to develop technical documents and read blueprints
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D solid models
• Computer experience including ERP, Solidworks, PDM, AutoCAD, Draftsite, Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, other misc. engineering and management software
