Schedule: Flexible, part-time; school schedule considered
Compensation: Unpaid; academic credit, internship hours, externship hours, or volunteer hours may be available if approved by the student’s school or program

Position Summary

Veterans Stand Together is seeking an unpaid Administrative Assistant Intern in Henderson, Nevada. This opportunity is ideal for a student who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, Veteran services, office administration, outreach, and community-based program support.

The intern will work directly with nonprofit staff and learn how a mission-driven organization supports Veterans, service members, and their families. This role provides practical experience in day-to-day administrative tasks, event preparation, scheduling, documentation, outreach support, and office operations.

This internship is designed as a learning opportunity for students seeking academic credit, externship hours, volunteer hours, or real-world nonprofit experience.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Assist with general administrative and office support
  • Answer phones, take messages, and support basic front desk tasks
  • Help schedule appointments and support follow-up communication
  • Assist with data entry, filing, scanning, and document organization
  • Help prepare participant packets, sign-in sheets, forms, and workshop materials
  • Support outreach events, resource fairs, workshops, and community programs
  • Help maintain outreach lists, employer lists, and community partner information
  • Assist with volunteer coordination and event logistics
  • Draft flyers, social media content, email communications, and basic outreach materials
  • Support basic reporting, tracking, and program documentation
  • Learn nonprofit operations, office systems, client service flow, and community engagement
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a Veteran-serving environment

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Interested in nonprofit work, Veteran services, community outreach, public service, or human services
  • Reliable, professional, organized, and willing to learn
  • Comfortable with basic computer tasks, email, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar systems
  • Able to communicate respectfully with staff, volunteers, Veterans, and community partners
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Open to learning how nonprofit programs operate behind the scenes
